How can I get a Greenroof? > Requirements > 1

Requirements

The main criteria to bear in mind are the following:

1. Dependent on the type of green roof installed (extensive/intensive etc) each system will have a saturated weight of between 90kgs per m² to 200kgs per m². It is essential that the roof is able to support this additional weight. A Structural Engineer would be able to advise.

2. The roof should have a sound waterproofing system and Greenroofs Ltd will not install a green roof until the waterproofing has been flood tested and signed off.

3. For roof pitches above 10º, reinforced “ribs” may be required to prevent substrate slippage. Advice on roof pitches are offered through our consultancy service.

4. All plant material is either grown by Greenroofs Ltd or managed by Greenroofs Ltd through a supplier. These plants have been tested by us to ensure that they will survive on a roof in the New Zealand climate.

5. Greenroofs Ltd will happily work with a variety of drainage cells, which will be installed at the same time as the installation of the growing medium and plants.
